At Charlie Kirk’s memorial service, his widow, Erika Kirk, offered a powerful testament to Christian values. In the face of unimaginable grief, she chose forgiveness— publicly forgiving her husband’s killer.
“The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the gospel is love and always love. Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us…that man who killed my husband, I forgive him because that is what Christ would have done.”

Her actions and words are a reflection of the strength we may only know by fully embracing Christ’s teachings, even in the darkest and hardest times.
President Trump spoke next, directly rejecting Erika’s plea and instead turning to the verse Trump has said is his favorite, “an eye for an eye.” Trump stated:
“Charlie did not hate his opponents. That’s where I disagreed with Charlie. I hate my opponent and I don’t want the best for them. I am sorry, Erika…I hate my opponents.”

Trump then used much of the remainder or his eulogy to brag about his tariffs and list off different political opponents he had grievances with.
