TEXAS' NEW VOTING BILL GOES AFTER FAITH VOTERS

The American vote, but especially the Christian vote, must be protected so that our values are reflected in our government. But Texas SB 7 tries to squelch out our voice by crushing our right to vote and legalizing government overreach.

TEXAS’ NEW VOTING BILL TARGETS SUNDAY VOTING TO KEEP CHURCHES FROM HELPING CHRISTIANS TO THE POLLS.

Many hard-working Texans only get one day off a week. Most choose to have Sunday off, and businesses like Chick-fil-A and Hobby Lobby even close to ensure they can go to church with their families. But Texas’ SB 7 would have significantly reduced Sunday voting hours, forcing American citizens to choose between going to church or exercising their right to vote.

SB 7  WAS WRITTEN TO ALLOW A SINGLE JUDGE TO OVERTURN AN ENTIRE ELECTION WITHOUT ANY EVIDENCE OF FRAUD NEEDED.

That means that one man could have overturned an election, no questions asked, just because he disagreed with the outcome. That sounds like a Communist regime. Not American democracy. Voting is not a privilege but a God-given right of every American citizen. Politicians and judges don’t get to decide our leaders. We do.

Texas Governor Greg Abbot never called a special session to address the winter power grid failures, which took the lives of 210 Americans and left millions of Texans without power and water for weeks. But he did demand a special session to pass these new restrictions on voting, even though there is no evidence of fraud in the 2020 election.

Now, Governor Abbot plans to arrest lawmakers who did not attend the special session on voting restrictions.

TEXANS ARE PUSHING BACK ON THE ANTI-CHRISTIAN VOTING LAWS. BUT THE TEXAS GOP CONTINUES TO PUSH FORWARD WITH LAWS THAT GO AFTER AMERICAN CITIZENS' GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO VOTE.

New bills would make it illegal to help blind or deaf people at the polls. And would even make people get a special permit to drive their elderly neighbors to the polls. They would take away the late-night and 24-hour voting options that our nurses and police officers rely on after working long shifts. It would also give poll watchers a one-time pass to intimidate voters with curse words, yelling, and physical threats.

At this point, this is more than a bill. This is an intentional effort to make it harder for hard-working Christians to vote and riskier for us to help others as Jesus has called us to do.

As Faithful Citizens supporting democracy, we demand our leaders make better laws to defend election integrity.
