A CHRISTIAN RESPONSE TO CRITICAL RACE THEORY
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?”
During a time when so many are quick to pass blame and complain about others, Jesus’ teachings remind us to first examine our own hearts...and our own politics.
What better place to start than with Critical Race Theory.
At its core, CRT is a call for Americans to reflect on and admit our past shortcomings, strive to be the best nation we can now, and build a better future for our children.
But pundits on the Right and Left have tried to use CRT to divide us and demonize their opponents. Rather than reflect and listen, the powers of the world have turned CRT into a fight over labels and opportunity to scare up small dollar donations. Most of the states where protests and counter-protests are happening don’t even teach CTR!
For Christians, CRT presents the perfect opportunity to witness our values of repentance, grace, and loving one another as Christ loved us.
America has come a long way on race, and we can still do better. We all know that. Followers of Christ don’t fear repentance or point to faults in others to avoid facing our own.
American Christians face a choice. Will we follow the lead of our worldly powers or our Savior?
Our neighbors and children are watching.
